And that’s only the beginning! When you’re ready to venture out, here’s what’s waiting for you in Brenham…

Your Summer Adventure Awaits Just Beyond the Ranch

After a slow and serene morning on the ranch, you’ll be left feeling invigorated and ready for the small-town warmth and big-time adventure of Brenham. With so much to see and do, it’s a challenge knowing where to start — but hey, that’s part of the fun.

And if you’re visiting this summer, you’re in for a treat. From classic car shows and star-spangled parades to vibrant art walks and cocktail strolls, Brenham and its nearby towns are set to come alive with the kind of charm only a Texas summer can deliver.

Here are just a few of the highlights happening from May through August, 2025:

Celebrate Brenham’s rich German heritage with a lively parade, delicious food, live entertainment, and carnival rides at Fireman’s Park.

Stroll the quaint streets of Chappell Hill and enjoy local art, watch live artist demos, and vote for your favorites at this creative celebration.

Sip your way through Downtown Brenham as shops serve up specialty cocktails and summer vibes during this tasty annual tradition.

Admire vintage cars and trucks at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum, where history meets horsepower — and a whole lotta’ hometown fun.

Celebrate freedom and community at this vibrant parade and cultural gathering hosted by the Washington County Juneteenth Association.

Celebrate Juneteenth at Washington on the Brazos with inspiring speakers, historical reenactments, and family-friendly activities honoring freedom and heritage.

Enjoy free live music, classic cars, and cold drinks under the stars in Downtown Brenham every Saturday night in July.

Wave your flag at the “biggest small-town parade” around, filled with patriotic floats, the Famous Marching Kazoo Band, and a whole lotta love for the red, white, and blue.

Spend the Fourth the old-fashioned way with a community parade, fireworks, trail rides, and festive fun in historic Independence, TX.

Spend a laid-back summer afternoon strolling Chappell Hill, sipping wine and sampling cheese from all the local shops.

All the Best Spots to Fill Your Belly and Soothe Your Soul

Looking for something fun to do in between events? These local favorites are open all summer and always hit the mark:

Is it even a real summer vacation without a trip (or several) to get the best ice cream you can find?

Blue Bell Creameries has been a source of Texas pride for over a century, serving up fun for all ages and decadent flavors that’ll leave you drooling for more. And at just $1 per scoop, you can try as many as you want without breaking the bank.

But it’s not just eating the ice cream that makes the visit worthwhile — you can also watch it being freshly made from the observation deck. A self-guided tour of the visitor center will walk you through the company’s history, and the Country Store is filled with sweet mementos to remind you of your experience.

Set in the heart of Fireman’s Park, this antique carousel delivers a heart-warming combination of nostalgia and delight while keeping you cool inside the 16-sided pavilion.

Providing fun for the young and young at heart, the Flying Horses Carousel is another attraction that’s easy on the pockets at only $1 per ride. The fact that it’s only one of five classic wood carousels left in Texas (not to mention the oldest of the bunch) makes riding it that more special.

Located across the street from Fireman’s Park, the Splash Pad at Henderson Park is the perfect way to cool down on a toasty Texas afternoon.

Don’t feel like getting wet? The 22-acre park also has a playground where little ones can blow off steam and plenty of green space for the quintessential summer picnic.

For a meaningful moment of reflection, be sure to visit the Vietnam Fighter Jet Memorial, home to a real F-111A fighter jet — a poignant reminder of the sacrifices of our military.

Known as the place “Where Texas became Texas”, this historic site offers a change of pace and a step back in time. Fully costumed tour guides bring the story to life, recounting how 59 delegates signed the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico right on this very spot.

While the history is rich, a visit to the site is free to the public, and the beautifully maintained grounds serve as a scenic and peaceful setting you won’t soon forget.

Take a post-history stroll downtown, where you’ll find everything from fashion boutiques to art studios and even a bit of holistic healing.

A mix of modern and historical buildings makes for a shopping experience like no other, as you search for the perfect souvenir for that special someone.

A summer vacation in Texas is thirsty work, and there’s nowhere more delightful to wet your whistle than Brazos Valley Brewing Company. Since 2014, they’ve been serving up beer brewed right here in Brenham, and most Saturdays, you can savor the quality beer while enjoying live music.

Don’t have a babysitter? No problem! The kiddos will have plenty to occupy them in the playground, and there are non-alcoholic options available to wash down a giant pretzel or loaded nachos from the BVB Eats food truck.

There’s BBQ, and then there’s BBQ done right — and there’s no beating the authentic Texas flavor you’ll find at LJ’s.

Offering generous portions of tender, juicy meats and mouth-watering sides, it’s no surprise LJ’s is “where the locals go”. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch or settling in for a full feast, one thing’s for sure: you’ll leave with a full belly and a big ol’ smile.

End the Day Where It All Began

After a day filled with small-town charm and big adventure, there’s nothing better than returning to the peaceful comfort of Rockin’ Star Ranch.

Kick off your boots and cool off with a dip in the sparkling pool, or enjoy the gentle sway of a rocking chair as you take in the view from your shaded porch. It’s the kind of serenity only the Texas countryside can offer.

Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or that special someone, our country-chic cabins make the perfect place to relax and recharge, with plenty of space, privacy, and comfort for all.
